First curry night

We’ve been eating well – first curry went down extremely well, thanks to Terry G3VFC and his helper, able bodied seaman Geoff G0DDX – Well done chaps on feeding the hungry Camb Hams in bulk… and the custard and leftover rice seemed to be a hit too!!

Well, you have an enthusiastic crew of Camb Hams running multiple stations, multiple modes, multiple bands… and through a bit of digital magic you can see them work 107 stations in just under a minute in this video clip!

Gavin M1BXF doing some interesting DX experiments on 6m with the Discovery 64 linear amplifier, kindly loaned to the group by the great guys at Linear Amps UK. OFCOM have granted a high power NoV for experimental and research purposes, and we are collecting details of power levels and antenna configurations of stations we work. We are noticing some Aurora fluctuations as well on VHF.

A very serious Gavin working 4m with a homebrew solid state amplifier (built in an old Bremi BRL-200 case) that can do up to 300 watts. The 4m beam antenna is giving very little reflected power, so we know we’re getting good output at the front of the beam!

First timer Mark M0MJH is still playing on PSK31 on 40m at 01:50 local. He’s just worked UN1L in Kazakhstan (I like) and now he’s calling KP4ED in Puerto Rico!
